Woodland Garden Dream

For some reason, I find this a hard one to describe! This lovely family bought their dream home in Darlington and a large part of that dram was the spacious backyard which backed onto both the bush and the school grounds. They wanted to retain the lack of visual boundary between the garden and the bush, yet also wanted to naturally mark where the garden was - to make it more aesthetic. They wanted to keep the undulating flow of the lawn but make it more useable. What we did was gently sculpt the lawn area to make it into a smoother, continuous slope rather than two levels. We planted out the boundaries with lots of soft grasses and native plants to create definition but not a barrier, we added a crushed limestone path to again add some structure to the garden, cleared some large shrubs and a couple of smaller trees top open up the garden and the view from the house and added some garden beds and steppers to create more interest and another walkway.

All in all, we made a lot of small tweaks to enhance what was existing, its hard to capture in photos but the feeling of this garden when you are in it is lovely, so serene and relaxing. The perfect place to hang out with the family.
